‘The Black Sea’ is a tale you know you’ll remember when you first start reading it. It’s deserving then that it won this award against very stiff competition. Not surprising it has also been nominated for two other awards including a Shirley Jackson. This is Chris’s second award in as many years, the first being ‘The Stairwell’ in 2017. Both were published in Things in the Well anthologies, and I’m delighted to have been able to play a small part in bringing Chris’s stories to the public.
