INFECTED!

Call for Submissions
front cover draft A

LOOKING FOR:
The next Things in the Well anthology will be Infected and I’m after dark, highly memorable (even moving!) stories of infections, viruses, and other similar apocalyptic conditions… They don’t all have to be bleak, and happy endings or optimistic tones are even encouraged!

WHAT I DON’T WANT:
No ‘isms’ of ANY KIND will be tolerated. If you have to discriminate against any group of people, make sure it’s the character’s PoV and not your own! Keep gore to the minimum required for the story/effect and don’t let the story suffer for the fact you want to include graphic violence, torture, body horror, sex, etc. These can all have their places in the story (it is an adult theme!) however will not carry a poor story…

WORD COUNT:
Enough to make the story memorable, intriguing, suspenseful, meaningful, and no longer. Whether that’s 500 words or 10,000 is up to you.

REPRINTS:
Reprints are allowed! Please let me know if it is a reprint and confirm you have the rights to republish.

DEADLINES:
Send your submissions by email in asap to ThingsInTheWell@Gmail.com with the subject ‘Infected Submission’ by 31st March 2020!

FORMATTING NOTES:
Keep formatting to the barest minimum – use “Double Quotes” for speech, single space, no tabs (indented paras are okay) and stock to one single font (Any will do, but I prefer Garamond) and if you use EM dashes, please convert to EN-dashes with a space either side, except at the beginning or end of a sentence, where an EM dash is preferred.

FEEDBACK:
I will send acceptance/rejection emails asap, but no feedback will be given on rejected stories.

PAYMENT:
This is going to be for charity (TBD soon), so I won’t be paying for this particular anthology.

– Steve

  1. Damn I’d love to participate but that’s just not enough time for me to bang out a story along with publishing and editing four books… argh. Hopefully I’ll catch the next one…
